11.30 am, Saturday July 26th, Cabravale Leisure Centre
For 15 weeks in Fairfield, 12 diverse young people with and without disabilities have worked with professional artists and tutors to form the first Mixed Abilities Performance Ensemble (MAE) in New South Wales.
This flagship training program run by Powerhouse Youth Theatre (PYT) in partnership with Accessible Arts had bought together a cross section of young people interested in all areas of performance.
Promoting respect, understanding and accessibility, the MAE is addressing the lack of interdisciplinary and inclusive performance programs in Australia.
The MAE is creating opportunities for young people to receive highly subsidised professional performance training, building skills and confidence among the participants, and breaking down barriers faced by those with a disability.
PYT and Accessible Arts will also develop an Online Resource Kit as part of the project. It will serve as a sustainable training tool for others within the arts and disability sector to utilise to create new work with young people of all abilities.
The Workshop Showing will take place at the Cabravale Leisure Centre in Cabramatta on 26th July at 11.30pm. The Ensemble will perform 2 short pieces that they have created themselves, and then a fun workshop will be run for any of those in the audience who would like to get a taste of how the program worked.
To RSVP for the event, please contact PYT on 02 9724 6077 or email info(AT)pyt.com.au by Monday 21st July.
