Project Description

Since it’s inception in 2004, Shortcuts, a film festival for young filmmakers from Western Sydney has engaged over 20 short films, attracted audiences of over 500 and sponsorship to the value of $10 000. The festival is coordinated on a shoestring budget and continues to grow every year. Shortcuts celebrate the talents of young filmmakers during NSW National Youth Week and give them a chance to have their films screened in front of a public audience and have professional filmmakers judge their film. Past judges have included award winning filmmaker Khoa Do, Serhat Caradee, George Basha and producer Jane Manning. Shortcuts is also an opportunity to strengthen the growing screen culture amongst young people in the area and encourage them to develop skills in the areas of their interest such as writing, editing and directing.
