BEYOND VISION seeking theatre director Theatre for the visually impaired

BEYOND VISION

seeking theatre director

Theatre for the visually impaired

Beyond Vision is a group of enthusiastic performers who would like to establish a theatre group for the visually impaired.

Beyond Vision is looking for a theatre director who can teach skills in acting, voice, gesture and improvisation.

The group was formed in August 2009, when a one off grant was received from Vision Australia to appoint a facilitator for theatre training. The course ran for six weeks and built a strong social network. The group wishes to continue meeting on a regular basis to further develop these skills with a view to putting on a theatre performance in the future.

The aim of this training program is to appoint a key facilitator (director) to train a group of people affected by vision impairment in theatre: voice projection, gesture, and improvisation.

The group intends to meet fortnightly, to develop theatre skills.

The meeting will provide an important social and recreational activity. The program aims to develop a unique curriculum, which meets the needs of people with vision impairment.

When:

Beginning in March 2010. The exact starting date will be negotiated with the director and group.

The workshops will take place during the day from 11am – 1pm (most likely on a Monday).

There will be six workshops, in total.

Where:

The workshops will take place at PYT in the Fairfield School of Arts.

19 Harris St, Fairfield

If you are interested, please forward an expression of interest and a copy of your CV to haxelsen(AT)fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au by Monday 1st March.

This is a paid opportunity.
