Regardless of our age, gender, race or abilities we all have one thing in common- we have all come from somewhere- A Place. How that place differs for each person though is what makes each and everyone of us unique. That place with all its sounds, smells and images stir all kinds of emotions in us some accessible by memory and some remaining just as feelings. It is these places and the emotions and memories strongly attached to them that give an enormous weight to that place and subsequently that place plays a hugely significant and important role in the shaping of our lives and the creating of the person that we are. My Space, My Place is devised with artists and people of mixed abilities This will be Stage 4 of the My Space, My Place project.

Director: Alison Richardson
Design: Kate Shanahan
Performance Season: October 2007

Cronulla Beach, Sydney, 11 December 2005.
Reports of assaults and intimidation by non-locals led about 5,000 people – mostly under the age of 26 – to gather at Cronulla, to “reclaim the beach”. Soon some of the crowd were hunting down and attacking anyone of Middle Eastern appearance. Reprisal attacks followed, and by nightfall there was a full-on riot. From a partnership between Sydney’s Australian Theatre for Young People and Fairfield’s Powerhouse Youth Theatre, This Territory emerges from an intensive, six-month collaboration with young people from a cross-section of Sydney suburbs. The dramatic, physical production draws on ancient myth, first hand accounts and the stories of the culturally diverse cast.
